'300' star joins Foster, Breslin in adventure film

Gerard Butler is going from ancient Greece to fantasy isle.
Butler ("300") will star opposite Jodie Foster and Abigail Breslin in Fox Walden kids adventure "Nim's Island," based on Wendy Orr's kids tome of the same name.
Husband-wife directing team Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin are set to begin lensing in late July in Australia from their adapted screenplay.
Paula Mazur is producing the family film, which will bow April 28.
Storyline revolves around a girl who lives on a tropical isle with her father, a scientist whose boat runs into trouble one day, leaving the girl to fend for herself on the island. She begins emailing the author of the book she is reading, and with the author's help, is able to manage. Trio ultimately unites to save the island from careless tour companies.
Butler, who toplined Zack Snyder's "300," will next be seen starring opposite Hilary Swank in dramedy "P.S., I Love You." Warner Bros. bows the film Dec. 21.
After "Nim's Island," Butler is set to star in Lakeshore Entertainment's futuristic thriller "Game," which begins lensing in January.
Film is among the first four releases from Fox Walden, a joint-venture between Fox Filmed Entertainment and Walden Media.
Label, targeting family friendly fare, will release certain 20th Century Fox titles, as well as all Walden Media films.

Gerard Butler andrà dall'antica Grecia ad un'isola fantastica.
Butler (300) apparirà al fianco di Jodie Foster ed Abigail Breslin nell'avventura per ragazzi della Fox Walden "Nim's Island" (L'Isola di Nim), basata sull'omonimo volume per ragazzi di Wendy Orr.
La coppia di regia marito-e-moglie Jennifer Flackett e Mark Levin hanno predisposto di iniziare a girare nel tardo luglio in Australia basandosi sulla sceneggiatura da loro adattata.

La storia si svolge attorno ad una ragazza che vive su un'isola tropicale col padre (GB?), uno scienziato la cui imbarcazione un giorno ha dei problemi, lasciando la ragazza ad assumersi la responsabilità di sé stessa sull'isola. Comincia a mandare e-mails all'autore del libro che sta leggendo (GB?) e con l'aiuto dell'autore ce la fa. Il trio alla fine si riunisce per salvare l'isola da compagnie turistiche senza riguardi.
Butler, che ha raggiunto il top con "300" di Zack Snyder, sarà prossimamente visto al fianco di Hilary Swank nella dramma-commedia "P.S. I Love You". La Warnere Bros. distribuirà il film il 21 Dicembre.
Dopo "Nim's Island" Butler è già in predicato di apparire nel thriller futuristico della Lakeshore Entertainment "Game", le cui riprese inizieranno a Gennaio.
Il film sta tra le prime quattro uscite della Fox Walden, una joint venture tra Fox Filmed Entertainment e Walden Media (quella delle Cronache di Narnia...)
L'etichetta, che ha per target le famiglie, distribuirà alcuni titoli della 20th Century Fox nonché della Walden Media.
